This chinese new year is the first out of my many years overseas that feels more like a proper new year. Since the time that i moved to singapore, I did not go 拜年 except that once at yinyue's place during JC.

There were many "first time" during this new year =)

The day when i tagged along with his mom to go for gorcery shopping for the first time, it was also the first time i went over to his uncle's house and visited his 94 year's old ah ma. She is really healthy and strong at her age! But there are some communication barrier coz she can only speak hokken and i would not really understand much with my limited vocabs... I can totally understand how he felt when i talk to my mom. lol.... all canto, BUT he is learning fast and can understand most of the time when i am not speaking like bullet train. I like his ah ma coz she is always smiling when she see me and she is v friendly. And she told me to come again next time for more visits =) love it. oh... and she told me to learn hokken too =.= so is my mom hahaha. mom said it's useful if i am going to stay on in sg. Guess i should buck up in learning more hokken - dear u better teach me well. lol.

I was also invited to a reunion dinner at dear's place first time =). His mom keep reminding me every now and them for the steamboat dinner =) it was good! and I enjoyed the dinner and it was fun watching movies with his family. First time after we have been together for 3year+ yea. oh but too bad that he was yet to be invited to mine... hm... actually mine is nth special. It's just that every year dad will come over and we eat dishes that are cny related... mom's cooking, with more expensive ingrediants and longer cooking time. lol. but i love my mom's cooking! no one can cook like she does! Hm... I sorta told him to come if he dun mind. lol. for chu yi... lol. but i think OTOT ba. =p

ohoh! and it was also the first new year in singapore that i get that many ang baos! most from his family (ah ma, mom and sis) =D It has been long since i got angbaos directly from the person - every year i get my share from relatives in hk via "papa's shipment" lol. ya lah he collected then bring over for me and larry. It still feel good to recieve ang baos even tho i din go bai nian. lol. and it just get better if u can actually visit the family. I hope we could have class tuan bai next year, where we go our classmates house to bai nian with the class. That will be so much more fun!

chu yi poor dog, no one pei him, so i went out to walk the dog and dine with him at mos. We wore pink!!! lol. so cny.

chu er, when i woke i was rushing to finsihing watching 赤壁 (Red Cliff), so that i can chase for the 下集. Suay ar, i din see dear's sms that he was ready since 1300, then i only started watching around that time also. by the time i finsihed it was 4pm. We hoped to catch the 7pm show at vivo. But by the time we went down, dear was already in the quene for 25mins and he said Red cliff sure no good seats when its our turn. And yea not only no good seats, but left only 1 seats at 7pm slot and we are not considering the 10pm one coz its just way too late! so i suggested Inkheart at 9pm. Then the guy told us it end around 11pm, i was not sure if to take it or not, well in the end we did. So meanwhile we went for Carl's jr dinner... his feel like eating. I was fine... coz food court all closed and i had subway too often when i was overseas. Other fastfood are just not gd enough. Slow food cost too much. Kim Gary is not exactly good for hker's taste buds. And there are no cheap jap food around. lol. Dinner was funny with stupid faces, both his and mine. and he keep taking my bacons! The avocado burger was not as nice as the mushroom burger that he has... the beef chilli cheese fries was good though. i think better than superdog's one. overall, carl's is more value for money compare to superdog, really.

Inkheart was OK only if u asked me. Tho there are some breathe-taking scene (if u are as kiddo as me), but overall its draggy and lack the central hero role which will take the story to tis height. Some plots were abit cliche and predictable, which will kill those like me who would then be unimpressed by half of its tricks. The effects were good, and sometime was funny. But really, i think the story lack an aim and the plot is like here-and-there. I feel somewad "suppressed" when i was watching - if u know wad i mean. I guess its like an extract from the book, that sort of Harry Potter or Twilight movies that loses some of the essences of the story. But if u wan a fantasy movie these days, go for it, coz i guess its one of the better movie out in the cinema for the time being. =)

chu san, wake and packed some clothes and was sorting + deleting photos from hdds. Yue came bai nian and then i went dinner with family then went over to her place bai nian. Overall quite a good day. lol. Din see dear coz he had sch and tuition at night. =| and i had a hard time packing... (and am suppose to repack it now but can't help sticking to the com coz i will not have internet for the next 1 month... at least).

chu si, wake early and did sorting for photos again. hm... then have been waiting for dear to come pick me up for lunch... =.= suppose to have lunch around 1+ 2 ended up 2.41 then reach and 3.15 then had lunch at waraku ecp. Coz i really wan to eat more jap food before i go back =( wasai in adelaide is abit too pricy for the quantity tho there is quality. And sushi train is simply ex - not worth the money. So we did have some good food, erm. but extremely food like that time at cathy (i like that restaurant more! coz we had good food there, but that was a bit ex too, at least was v filling). then only reach his place around 5+... then an hour later he told me that we are gg to his ah ma's place for 撈起! surprise surprise... coz i never 撈魚生 before and that's their tradition here in sg. So it's quite an experience and quite fun to be there. Happy to tag alone again. Dinner was good and the doggie there likes me too! 2nd time i saw her and she remembered me. Keep licking my hand and wants me to play with her, erm scratch her belly most of the time. Ah ma din let us help with the cleaning after dinner, and we were told to sit down and watch TV. Oh TV, once i start staring i will just keep staring.. lol. Din stay there v long, headed back to his place around 8+ coz we have to sort photos and clear hdds. =.= chores that i procastinated till now. So nite ends there with dear sending me home.

Chu wu, today wake quite late. keep waking now and then but utimately wake around 12. din sleep well, wake with headaches and stuff. and there i am in front of the com since i wake up. Checking emails, facebooks, blog and trying to do as much with the internet and also sorting pics most of the time again. okey will log off in 5 coz larry need internet and i better pack finsih before 6 so i can go dinner with family and meet up with dear later on! and tmr i better read journels on the flight else i would be quite dead meat! have to decided the project tonite and give my Dr. a reply before i leave! ARGH still so many things to do and the thing i hate is always organsing and sorting because there is only sub-minimial difference in the pics that i take and packing of clothes its just difficult when the temperature fluacutrates so often! okey... off i go. I hope to spend more time with dear tmr =) so buck up now! tata

1:16 PM

here i go again with new year resolution and i hope i could achieve them this time round.... but u know its hard to change ur old habits.

1) To Sleep early (before 12midnight)
2) To have a balance diet (not either too much carbo or too much vegs)
3) To exercise weekly (this is the one that i can never keep up to)
4) To be prepare for the unexpected & keep up with work (I lost self-control after exchange... lazy around too much)
5) To write and to keep in touch with friends! (have not be writing v often)
6) To read more books (other than journels), to keep myself up-to-date
7) To smile more, be more friendly
8) To think more before i act

Hm i will stop at 8 items for the good luck and i think 8 is already hell lots for me to change this year... HAHAHA

Since 一年之計在于春 i should set some achievable goals for the year.

1) keep up with lab work, mix in and score well for honours (nth is more impt than that!)
2) improve in public speaking (i think kam would be able to help alot)
3) to learn driving! (need a teacher before that...hm..)
4) to find a job and be hired by latest end of this year! (please grant me a gd job for next year)
5) to improve my cooking and baking skills (with a more conductive kitchen that should work well)

Lastly, i should get my wish list here too... just to keep them off my head. haha

to travel downunder - cities and states that have not been and visit some long lost friends AND hopefully that dear could earn enough money to join me!

so far i think that's the only wish here, others that i have are not as possible and plausible for my state of finance. lol. So getting a gd job should be my 2nd wish here....

Hope that everyone will have good health this year!

started collecting dear's handdrawn emoticon when we chatted on msn... damn funny. they looked like those "cakes" in my blog (above) and today when we go mos and eat, he realised that it looked like the mos burger toys that they came out with. hahaha. cute!

the very first 2 models that came out... first one is of own will.. 2nd one coz i request to see his cute face in drawings again.... (1st: >.<, 2nd: -.- the blur look)

Same goes for the 3rd and 4th one coz i do think they really looked like him, and whenever i see these cartoons, they just make me tot of his birdie head and make me laugh!

(3rd: =D the happy look, 4th: =) the contented look)

I bet it will be heaps funnier if he does that real live. If i could, i would definitely record it down man! kimmy, u gotta watchout! hahahahahha

Went to nus for lectures with dear again last week. Of one, there was this 4D lectures that i went in and really cannot take it for the whole 2 hours. 4D is not lottery, but defined as the 4 dimensions that i experienced, of which, i found one of it was unnecessary and unpleasent. the 4th dimension here is SMELL.

It was a after noon lecture from 2-4, physics lecture in LT 7A eng building. Lecturer? unknown, coz we went in late and I din go for the introductory lecture so i dunno who. Anyway he sounded very american and i reckoned that he should be one.

I suppose his lecture was good... i a sense that sometimes i will still look up from my journels and trying to hear wad he was teaching. but the atmosphere in that lecture was just not conducive enough for learning. What i meant was not the lecture hall physically. It was a well-equipped lecture hall, just that the nature of the lecture, thus there are more males than females in the lecture. Hence, the biological aura of men has literally filled the air and almost killed a sensitive nose like mine.

Smell concentrates at the back rolls of the lecture hall or rather that was where i was located near to. Those guys in front of me, most of them were chatting away and some with laptops on their table. Of all, one guy caught my attention - not because he was an eyecandy (and he never was anyway) but because of what he was viewing with his mini white laptop.

Very interesting. I guess the physics lecture must have bored him that he was viewing photos of women dressing in bikini or less with sexy poses and all... wad lustful desires during lectures that men could have! It was interesting to see how he was screening them one by one and at the end, it turned out that he had a folder of them! woah, i bet all guys would have their own private collections. But that guy infront was viewing it with people next to him, it seems like the are sharing the joy such photos.

so if u are teaching in nus, i have given u insights that wad ur studnets could do during lectures with their lappie in front. For those who love viewing such pics during lectures... big brother is watching you. lol. and girls, won't u be disguested by the action of such guys during lecture IF they are sitting near to u? I would. a total turn off.

Oh FREAK! I sit here typed so long and pressed "SAVE NOW" every now and then. Then wad, com restarted with webpage open and everything I typed for sooooooo long is now gone! GONE! kaoz! Then wad the freak is the use of the SAVE NOW button!? Tell me please! Blogger.com!REturn me my post! ARGH!

2:52 AM

Hiax, it is kinda sad when i see some photos of my graduation and when the most impt moment when i am in the hall and on stage. Pictures taken by my dad shook big time till u can't even see wad the hell it is!!!!!! ARGH! really frustrating when it was the first time I graduated and all I get is some blurry lousy shots! REally, very disappointing and honestly, it was not exactly as enjoyable as I would have imagined. At least not when I have to keep the "person" in check and to make sure they were not too embarrassing. ARGH. to think of it just gave me more steam. Never had any good memory when he was around anyway.

That's precisely when We need a better compact camera and a better skilled photographer! Hiax, it was so sad that Mr. Goh Tuan cannot make it, and so was his camera, which was already loaned to Francis.

Guess next year I would have my graduation in Singapore, so that I can save so money and get better pics with better landscapes and hopefully to borrow the grown for a longer period of time to make the most out of it. That would be the last time with graduation grown and the stole. I would really love to get some good shots with Stamford Raffles. lol. Kinda sad that I have 1/2 decided not to go on in academic for a wizard hat... but who knows...

Well, for those haven't graduate yet, let me tell u, graduation day, its like wedding day (a milder version i guess... coz u dun nid THAT much of preparation). U try to sleep early the day before, worrying if everything will goes well. Sleep v little and wake ultra early to put on ur make up and ur suits, be at the venue early - okey going into hall with heaps of people is different... i dun suppose u get thousands of people signing different marriage cert at the same time do you... unless that's like a group thing or wadever. lol. So we were briefed in elder hall and proceeded to the Main hall. Parents and friends seated, with music played from skilled musicians (music students of the uni) and there come strolling in the Professors and Chancellor of the university (yea not the bride. lol). When they are seated, someone gave a speech, and there goes the award giving ceremony.

One by one we followed on stage and when our names called. That was the moment, and excitement was felt and you walked proudly up the stage, shook hand with the chancellor and smiled at the camera, collected the parchment - And Time's up! Your one minute of frame was gone before you knew it. That one long minute which represented your three years of hard work. Something that is precious, that belongs to you. For the very first time where everyone present within the hall acknowledge your achievement. Something very memorable.

So people ask how u feel after the ceremony, being a graduate... At that moment, or rather now, i still feel "like that lo". But there is something different.

Only as time goes by, when i have to return to aus for honours, then i realise, i have no more lectures to go for, and my life as a undergraduate ends. Tragically, because there is simply nothing very exciting happened besides exchange. abit disappointing, because i din seems to have achieve lot in life. There is just so much discontent. may be it's just me being pessimistic, looking at the future that is not quite bright especially in time like this. Hearing bee's friends insight in Singapore's life science job and my family friend advice, it just seems that getting a job in Biomedical industry is abit low pay and hard compared to overseas... no wonder my friends tell me to stay on and work for a year or 2....

But I have my reasons, yet, that sole reason is not going to be helpful, if CIA is not going to give me another year(s) of PR in Singapore. Seriously. is this wrong time or bad luck. there are just so many obstacle and ordeal that keep coming forth. I just want to have a good life with a gd pay job after I finish my study and start working for my future and happiness. man. Life is really tough....

Today went for "lectures" at nus... yea tagged along my dear to lecture. I can tell how happy he was. lol. grining the moment we managed to siam that signboard when turning into the carpark.

Eng fac in nus was not as bad as I have imagined. The buildings are pretty new and there are aircon in most places. I guess my impression was being misled by the presentation of nus science fac buildings.

So first day going into nus, seeing how student have their lectures and their way of uni life, it's quite an experience. I was tagging along him like a lost dog, really lost... going up the stairs then take the life and walked through some twist and turns and going down the stairs again. man! its tiring okey! i have never walk so much stairs in my 3 years uni life in 2 unis. At most I have only climbed the hills in glasgow, and walked down the stairs and slopes in adelaide. WHY on earth nus have so many stairs! Its super hilly!

Had lunch at eng fac canteen before 1st lecture at 12noon. Met zhengwei and his other friends in the LT. 2 lectures for today and each 2 hours - some eng mod and 1 history ssa. yup, i know, they are weird man, taking sub that not related to any of their course. sth call "GEM" for general module or sth, then they still have core modules from their own course. The more I hear, the more I feel that I am so lucky to be overseas, where the enrollment and course system is not as complicated (i.e. troublesome without much advantage in the learning of student - i really dun see the point in bidding for ur module and refundings "points" to u...its like a child's play).

Anyway, I must say Dr. Beer gave me a first hand in training my listening in lecture and guessing where he comes from. lol, i guess he is quite am interesting guy, but really I never heard someone speaks like that in lecture. But I was told that he is not that bad, there were worst and they had them for the last sem, lectures go like bullet train without a break... or rather they are chanting for the high score of their students? which i guess it doesn't contribute that much if their student can't catch wad they said anyway. Lecturers overseas usually speaks english in reasonable pace and their accents are not that hard to understand, though some of them do have their uniqueness. (Thank god that i never have a lecture with heavy scottish accent for lectures....)

First hour in that lecture hall, my brain already switched off, I only managed to stay a wake for a wee while and read a page or two of my journels. Man, that was boring, and I was not the only one in my own world. The lecture hall was filled with chatters and people are either online doing sth else, or like me fishing in the sea of chants.

Right, that 2 hours finally passed and I followed weekim and friend to central lib for notes printing before the 2nd lecture. And u won't believe this: we are sitting on the floor just where u step into the lecture hall - well we came late, but there WERE really that many people taking this module. The feeling was like, we paid $64 bucks for a concert at the mountain top kind of box seats, where u heard the voice but dun get to see the "popstar"'s face.

History - building a nation - sound super like a society study chapter in secondary sch right? Yup, that introductory is no less about "culturing" the younger generation of theirs nation's proud history dispite of their 43years of independence. The lecturers were not as boring, when it came to show-casing Singapore's achievements - pretty interesting facts like some that we already known, of two, quite interesting - Singaporeans are the most MOTIVATED workers (My interpretation - all are willing to do ...erm.. take a step further - skw) But Singaporeans are also the most UNHAPPIEST people (not sure in asia or on earth) but yea, unhappy dispite of all their affluence in society and national achievements. I must say, Singaporeans are trying their best to set standards for their neigbouring countries or even the west. Wad more I can say when the facts are real and they flashes through the screen in the LT. lol. I was just kinda surprised that Hong Kong was that little bit behind Singapore. Afterall, we were the leading "country" (back then - we see ourselves as separate from the mainland, then and now) . We have the freedom of speech, but not all voiced opinions were converted the changes for the better of the society by those with powers... well, a personal opinion that is. Anyway, drop that sub, I am no good nor I have interest in politics.

So the 4 hours of lectures ended 15 mins earlier. We then followed to the central lib again to photocopy their readings (man. history, all about reading X.X lucky that is not me), on the way bumping into jinrong, who helped me into the lib so I dun have to wait outside like dog on leash tied to a pole. The lib is quite big I would say, I guess its either comparable to or abit bigger (therefore may be less books) than the one in adelaide. However, it is absolutely 'no kick' compare to the glasgow one. 12 storeies on a hill and i guess thousands of com free to use, nus still have to equip their lib with more.

Lib - boring, then went down to co-op (i.e. bookshop - WHY they are called co-op? anyone can explain?) to check out the book that he needs for lecture. And we need to keep out bags in lockers, quened for enquiry and wait for them to get the book and scan then know the price =.=" impressive. i guess they should have just keyed in the price with name or author and just check using com? well, may be its just 2nd day of sch and they are not handling with the flood of students. I can see that they earn heaps, coz a super thin book already cost $18.80. crazy. no wonder there are so much student priates out there. In glasgow, the lib has that many copies of book to borrow that u dun have to worry - lecturers actually tell u dun bother about buying textbook; whereas aus is different, they wan the uni the earn the most out of ur years u are there. Sorry about the comparsion, but I can't help to keep comparing.

So eventually we get to a snack stall after the up and down and turns around the uni, some cakes and buns to fuel my brain before heading home. Quite a fun day actually, and I do enjoy the fun of going back to sch - not studying there that is. hahahahah. I should be going sch for the next 2 weeks. so there may be many more "discoveries" to be made.

Finally understood the way to change a new blog skin without losing my archives and managed to choose a blog skin that is reader friendly with great help from yin yue... lol... that pigglet...

at first chose the skin that have to scroll left and right to read... somemore the space for my post are v restrictive.... not v good for my beady eyes to read... so in the end change back to this one that i quite like when i first saw it =) coz the cake simply looks cute and it may serve as a constant reminder: not to eat junkies.. lol... may have opposite effect.. hahahahah just hope i wont do project until no time to cook this year.

A new year is coming. 2009 has come but for those who missed the chance to get a change like me, you can join me celebrating chinese new year instead. so u can get ready for a change in life this year =D I do hope that things would get better. No MORE RUBBISH HOUSEMATES, I wish only for a biological safe, hygienic and healthy environment to live in. I hope for the better in looking for a suitable house and new considerate housemate. Yea, if we manage to get a 3 br house anytime soon that would be great. I would solely look for a girl, and hopefully she would either be a Singaporean, Malaysian or Aussie. Exchange students are welcome, as long as u are clean, quiet, friendly and considerate.

Coz I had enough of those freaks that yell during exam, leaving plates in the sink for weeks, and unfinsihed food in pots for months. Smoke in the shower room and never take out trash. The best part is, they dun even know wad is recycle bin for. oh, and they do have random friends coming over.... basically, i like to sum it up as i usually describe:
"its a Bio-harzard and health-harzard place to stay, and i need at least a PC2 environment to counter that..."

So yea, no more dirty jobs for me. I have enough both from them and from my family. Enough is enough. Call it a stop and a change in life!

AND YEA! FREAKS I WISH I CAN GET SOME GOOD GRADUATION PHOTOS! DAMN THAT LOUSY CAMERA THAT MY DAD WAS USING. that really sux. and i hope there is a chance for me to get some good grad photos in adelaide. really, i just wan that castle like photos, if not no point studying there for so many years. ARGH. freaks

hoping for a better year for everything to come. the later half of 2008 was just a bad time in adelaide. I wish for a better year.
