Being a milk-a-holic (and one of those asians that have NO lactose intolerance =p *sorry tree and jeremy* I do love milk alot... ) and feel that i should dedicate this post to intro u the milk that i have always been fascinated with and keep buying in bulk... *lol... i think u guys seeing this will laugh the hell out - for those who know HOW i go crazy with them* okok... Introducing my first four candidates for most popular milk (according to my chart of coz): ![]() As u can see from this pic, from left: -Skim milk with 0.1 of Fats -SMART milk with high Ca & reduced fats -PURE milk! 100% pure! *no bones about it* -Point 1 milk a.k.a. 0.1% milk but this one is high Ca de... I usually dun buy so many type, only get the PURE milk when it is around 1 buck / litre, but this time round woolies on sale and all four of them are only 0.99 cents! that's why.... And i go crazy with this brand of milk because the packeting is just -CUTE-! (those that who see me showing them will know wad i mean.... ) Pluspoint, they are UHT... so i can buy and keep dun nid every week go out and hunt for cheap ones... (even coles brand - the low qaulity one sell even more ex then this one lo! okey may be i am the only one got research on this kind of thing... BUT... well, of coz fresh milk is better and reasonably cheap... UHT is still the cheapest... so... haha) Experimental observation: -Skim milk: it's sorta diluted and not as creamy as the PURE one... erh, i personally would rank it number 5 coz it is just reduced fats... ![]() -SMART Milk! number one milk for the current chart (actually smart PLUS is even better, but i dun have the pic with me... coz i din buy... ex lah... )It is creamy and nice! Sweet! + Drink liao smarter one leh... =p I am the living prove! lol... *kidding* *SMART huhh* -PURE milk! 100% i really dun find the diff of this from fresh milk, except fresh one are more perishable... the perish when u drink them and when u dun drink them... either way they perish... lol. Ranking: number 2 -Point One milk: hm... it is actually quite the same as the skim milk, just that may be because is high Ca, then it tastes a bit sweeter then the skim one. It is equally watery as the skim one relative to the 100% pure milk (not as creamy), BUT! It is definitely heaps better then those skim or semi-skim milk from coles brand! HEAPS BETA! it is being tried and proven by me. take my word friends. Ranking: number 4 So where is the number 3 right... hm... there it comes... ![]() Tada! Semi-skim milk aka 2% milk (meaning there is only 2% of fats): my number 3 says "great creamy taste!" is the first thing that caught my eye and make me want to buy. This one is the 2 litre version of the same brand of milk. Bought it when it was 2 bucks for 2 litres.... okey lah... but open liao have to finish within 1 week lo... It is NOT as creamy as it says lah... not comparable to PURE one... but definitely creamier then skim and point 1 milk... it is sorta in the middle range... dunno wad to say about lah... -.- just ... milk lo... not as sweet as the high Ca one i guess... *sorry the typist abit tired ar* Oh from micorbiology lecture, we were told that UHT (ultra high temperature) and HTST (high temperature short term) milk usually give this yellowish colour and those (probably not as good brand) would give you solid at the bottom, that's why usually there is this line "Shake before opening" printed on the packeting... This colour is due to the bacterial enzymes that were present during the processing and was not been able to removed by the mechine; the yellow solid is the product of enzyme actions in the milk after packeting. Well, my observation is that, for the brand that i am drinking, the milk is relatively white... milky white... at least is not like that yellow yellowish... so i find that this is a good one to buy! (haha... now chinfatt is joining my gang too... lol) Conclusion: For creamy taste: the more fats in it the better (just like cheese and butter... fats make u feel great and ur blood milky =p) Explanation? chylomicrons formation after fats digestion.... refer to ur biochem text if u have one... (SEE! this is wad that stupid test make us think about!) For Sweetness in the white: go for high Ca milk, apparently i think Ca give a sweet taste... ( I have tried many types of milk even back in singapore... may be next time should do a write up on that also... i tried different brands one... there is a different between UHT milk) hoho. However, Forgot from who i heard, that "High Ca low Fat milk is actually NOT good for health and it reduce Ca intake by ur body"... erm... is it? may be i should go check it up with Lynn Roger... our biochem lecturer, apparently my tutor as well. Haha... this is almost the end of this review... and is going to be 2am again!!! argzhhh why am i always sleeping so late even this is a hol... (i am typing this in april by the way... din have time to do it during my bday... so... yea... ) Lastly, I would quote wad jeremy always says to me "go buy a cow lah!" I would! one day....
